Pygmalion

Ensemble Masques

“Reign, Love, let your flames shine!

Pygmalion is undoubtedly Jean-Philippe Rameau’s little masterpiece. In a single act, the famous story of the sculptor who falls in love with his statue provides the pretext for building an extraordinarily evocative world of sound. The statues come to life, Love shoots its arrows, and the sculptor’s chisels sound off throughout the overture! In this favourite role of the haute-contre voice, the fantastic Cyril Auvity takes on the role of Pygmalion. He is accompanied by the brilliant musicians of the Ensemble Masques, who will perform the orchestral suite from Hippolyte & Aricie as a prelude.
